LONDON (MarketWatch) -- West Bromwich Building Society said Friday that it has reached agreement with holders of its subordinated debt to exchange its subordinated debt, totalling 182.5 million pounds, for a new instrument, Profit Participating Deferred Shares, which will qualify as core tier 1 capital. The move will materially strengthen the British mutually-owned lender's core tier 1 capital ratio from 6.8% at 31 March, to 11.6% on a pro-forma basis. The PPDS will be entitled to receive a dividend, at the discretion of the Society, of up to 25% of the Society's future profits. NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- PPD Inc. said Tuesday that its board has approved a 20% increase to the company's annual cash dividend, bringing the payout to 60 cents a share from 50 cents. NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. said Monday that its first-quarter net income rose to $15.9 million, or $1.29 a share, from $14.7 million, or $1.08 a share, in the year-earlier quarter. Net income rose 8%, while the number of weighted average outstanding shares fell 9%. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc. said late Tuesday its first-quarter profit fell to $40.1 million, or 33 cents a share, from $42 million, or 35 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding charges, the company would have reported a profit of 44 cents a share in the latest quarter. Revenue rose to $396.2 million from $332.3 million a year ago. I am a mother, an actress/singer and an entrepreneur!
